GCSE success for Kenton School students
GCSE success for Kenton School students

Students at Kenton School are celebrating their success in the examinations; despite the challenges of the last two Covid-impacted years, students have at least matched and in many cases exceeded the results of the last examined student cohort.

As well as individual successes, the board of trustees is delighted with the outcomes of several departments. There has been a significant jump in the number of students achieving a Grade 5+ in both Maths and English. Moreover, the gap between disadvantaged students and their non-disadvantaged peers has narrowed. Both of these successes are in contrast to the national picture.

The academy has not only shown a strong improvement in a range of subjects, there were also some outstanding individual successes including:

Jack Birkett 鈥 8 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s; Olivia Dale 鈥 4 Grade 9s, 5 Grade 8s; Ying Ching Cheung 鈥 6 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s, 1 Grade 7; Kayden Rogers 鈥 3 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s, 1 Distinction; Oliver Atkinson 鈥 2 Grade 9s, 5 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s; Alizah Mohammed 鈥 2 Grade 9s, 4 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s; Cynthia Burham 鈥 1 Grade 9, 3 Grade 8s, 4 Grade 7s.

Sinead Green, Kenton School鈥檚 principal, congratulated the students, staff and teachers on the results and thanked them for their dedication and commitment, saying:

鈥淲e are really pleased with these results, which reflect how hard our teachers and students have worked during the last year. Some of our students have overcome difficult obstacles to achieve their success, travelling from overseas on their journey to arrive at Kenton, so their achievements are particularly outstanding given that one in four students in Year 11 has English as an Additional Language.

鈥淥ur students are resilient and ambitious, and we are pleased that so many are now embarking on the next steps in their education, studying for apprenticeships or other qualifications, while the majority will remain at Kenton School to study for their A-levels. We wish them all the very best of luck for the future!鈥

Lee Kirtley, CEO of 51国产视频, said: 鈥淭hese results reflect the many positive changes that continue to take place throughout the academy. All students are given the best possible support and advice and encouraged to follow their passion, whatever that might be. These results mark a positive start in our journey towards becoming a good and improving school.鈥
